|Results of the call to provide Argentine scientists research opportunities in Europe|
Due to the Implementation Agreement signed between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation and the European Commission in March 2015, Argentina became the first Latin American country -and the third in the world- to suscribe such instrument with the European Council research (ERC), the first European funding body devoted to conduct research at the frontiers of knowledge on the basis of scientific excellence. With a budget of more than € 13 billion in the framework of Horizon 2020, the ERC counts 8 Nobel laureates and 3 Fields medalists among its grant holders, as well as other internationally recognized scientists.
Since the launching of 1st Call under the Agreement during last December, more than 300 European researchers expressed interest in collaborating with Argentine counterparts. As a result of an evaluation process involving experts of each thematic priority, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation awarded for the period 2016-2017 Argentinean researchers from the following list of collaborations:
Marisa Farber (Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial)- Sunetra Gupta (Universidad de Oxford)
